What it is
Sucker Punch is a sparkling lemonade kava from Botanical Brewing Co. The can reads "Brewer's Series" and "Double Strength Lemonade Kava," and the side panel says "Zesty lemon. Double kava." BBCo's product page calls it "Sucker Punch Double Strength Lemonade Kava" and says it's "Packed with double the kava." Those are the brand's words. The page doesn't say what the "double" is measured against, and the label doesn't list kavalactones, so we don't put a number on it.
What the label says
From the label image on BBCo's product page:
- Size: 12 fl oz (355 mL), one serving per can. The panel adds: "We recommend enjoying one (1) serving per day."
- Kava: 1,400 mg kava extract. No kavalactone figure.
- Calories: 48. Sugar: 12 g, all of it added. Sodium: 1 mg.
- Ingredients: carbonated water, organic cane sugar, organic lemon juice, natural flavor, monk fruit, kava extract, citric acid, potassium sorbate, vitamin C.
- Labeled as: a herbal supplement, with a Supplement Facts panel.
- Warnings on the can: not for use by anyone under 18 or by pregnant or nursing women; don't combine with alcohol, drive or operate heavy machinery after drinking; and a note that the FDA advises a potential risk of rare but severe liver injury with kava. We recommend kava for adults 21+, and BBCo's site is age-gated to 21+.
We didn't find a lab report (COA) link on the Sucker Punch product page on October 14, 2026. BBCo's Orange Dream page has one.
How it compares with BBCo's other kava cans
| Drink | Flavor | Kava on the label | Calories per can, as BBCo lists them | Price per can at brand site (Oct 14) | Buy |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| BBCo Kava Sucker Punch | Lemonade | 1,400 mg kava extract; kavalactones not listed | 48 | $14 (4-pack, $56) · $14 (12, $168) · $13 (24, $312) | Shop |
| BBCo Kava Orange Dream Our review | Orange | 600 mg kava root isolate; kavalactones not listed | 50 | $9 (4-pack, $36) · $8.50 (12, $102) · $8.25 (24, $198) | Shop |
| BBCo Kava Tutti Frutti Our review | Rainbow sherbet | 600 mg kava root isolate; kavalactones not listed | 60 | $9 (4-pack, $36) · $8.50 (12, $102) · $8.25 (24, $198) | Shop |
Orange Dream's and Tutti Frutti's labels list "kava root isolate," and Sucker Punch's lists "kava extract." None of the three lists kavalactones, so the milligram figures aren't a like-for-like strength comparison. We're quoting the labels, not ranking strength.
Taste
BBCo describes it as "Bright, zesty lemonade flavor with a kava kick." The ingredient list backs up the lemonade: organic lemon juice and cane sugar, with monk fruit. As with any kava drink, expect kava's earthy note under the fruit.
Price and packs
At the brand site on October 14, 2026, Sucker Punch was $56 for 4, $168 for 12 and $312 for 24: $13 to $14 a can. That's about $4.75 to $5 a can more than Orange Dream or Tutti Frutti in the same pack sizes. BBCo's Kava Variety 12-Pack ($102) includes Sucker Punch alongside Orange Dream and Tutti Frutti, which is a cheaper way to try it first.
Who it's for
- Kava regulars who already know how a regular kava can sits with them.
- Not first-timers. If you've never had kava, start with Kava Orange Dream, our pick for a first can, or the variety pack.
Have one can, follow the label's one-a-day suggestion, never mix it with alcohol, and read who should skip kava below. For other kava brands, see the best kava drinks or where to buy kava drinks.

Who should skip kava
- Kava drinks are for adults 21+. Skip them if you're under 21.
- Skip kava if you're pregnant or breastfeeding.
- Skip kava if you have a liver condition or drink heavily. Kava has been linked to rare cases of serious liver injury.
- Skip it if you take antidepressants (including SSRIs), sedatives, sleep aids or medications that affect the liver, unless your doctor says it's OK.
- Rules on kava vary by place. Check your local rules before you buy.
- One can or shell is one serving. Don't mix kava with alcohol, and don't drive after drinking it.
These are general cautions, not medical advice. If you're unsure, talk to your doctor or pharmacist.
