Privacy policy

What this site collects, which outside services it uses, and how to opt out. Last updated October 11, 2026.

This is a plain-language summary of how The Functional Sip handles data. It isn't legal advice.

The short version

We don't have accounts, a comment section, a contact form or an email signup form, so we don't ask you for personal information. We use Google Analytics to see which pages people read. We use affiliate links. We don't sell personal data.

Google Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which guides are useful. When you load a page, Google Analytics collects things like the page you viewed, the page you came from, your browser and device type, your approximate location (country or city, derived from your IP address) and what you click on this site. We also record when someone clicks a shop link (which link and which page), so we know which guides lead to purchases. Google Analytics sets first-party cookies (named `_ga` and `_ga_` followed by an ID) to tell repeat visits from new ones.

To opt out, you can:

Google's own use of this data is covered by Google's privacy policy.

Many of our links are affiliate links. As a Botanical Brewing Co. affiliate, we earn a commission when you buy through our links, and links to other brands usually go to Amazon, where we earn a commission as an Amazon Associate. Those links carry our referral code. When you click one, the store you land on (Botanical Brewing Co.'s online store, or Amazon) may set its own cookies so the purchase is credited to us. Those cookies are set and controlled by those sites under their own privacy policies, not by us. We see commission totals, not who you are or what else you bought. See our full disclosure.

Questions about your data
